127 Bus Service Update

We are pleased to announce that after recent efforts to save the 127 bus route through Moat on Tuesdays and Fridays Borders DC will continue running the diversion through Moat. Councillor Val Tarbitt has kindly agreed to fund the extra costs over the next year and thereafter, Nicholforest Parish Council and Kirkandrews-on-Esk Parish Council will contribute jointly towards the service.

Newcastleton Pharmacy Application (2010)

An application for a pharmacy in Newcastleton was likely to affect patients living in Nicholforest and neighbouring parishes in England. If the pharmacy had opened the Newcastleton GP practice(which covers a wide area) would most likely have lost its dispensary. The resultant loss of income could lead to practice being scaled down
with English patients having to move to another practice. The situation was made more complicated by the fact that the Borders NHS Trust has differing work practices to NHS Cumbria.

Nicholforest PC immediately sent information to every household in the community, advised on how to object to this application for those who wished to do so and of meetings in the area. Notified Bewcastle PC and local MP and all worked as a team to bring a positive outcome to this issue.
